Land
Hammell's Wildlife Connection has over 4000 acres of abundant Whitetail deer and Eastern turkey populations in White and Edwards counties in southern Illinois. Alfalfa, wheat, clover, chufa, and chicory, along with an ample water source from the Wabash River basin, provide the natural resources necessary for healthy game on our land. Heavily covered woodlands, open farmland, and rich bottomland provide the perfect habitat for the over 130 plus Class deer and trophy gobblers that reside here. For over 70 years, the Hammell family has farmed and hunted this terrain.
Guides
Our guides are seasoned hunters who know every tree scrape, bed, and roost on our land. Guided hunts ensure that hunters will be led to prime locations. We also offer semi-guided hunts at a slight discount for hunters who prefer to do their own scouting. For hunters with special needs, our guides will provide assistance according to the hunter's requirements.
After the hunt, our guides will assist in retrieval of animals, tagging, field dressing, and checking-in the game. A walk-in cooler will keep the game cool.
Safety and Ethics
At Hammell's Wildlife Connection it is imperative that hunters follow safety guidelines, rules and regulations, and ethical hunting practices. Illinois laws regulating hunting hours, tagging procedures, and weapon transportation are strictly enforced. A waiver of liability is required.
Tree Stands
We provide safe and comfortable, permanent tree stands. Some are large enough to accommodate three people. If you prefer your own stand, an area to scout and to set one up will be assigned. All hunters will be required to wear safety belts or harnesses.
Hammell's hunters are outfitted with:
- Heated shooting houses
- Generous distances between stands
- Transportation to and from stands
- Safety harnesses (required)
- Game retrieval
- Field dressing
